Jan Prem Sagar Linssen grew up with music. His father played the trumpet in the St. Jansharmonie in Laren, and from 8 years of age, Jan joined on the cornet. Every Sunday they rehearsed enthusiastically at home. The neighbours could enjoy for free! He owes his sense for musicality to his father and to this time in life. In the sixties he got, just like many others, inspired by the music of The Beatles en Bob Dylan. The cornet became less important, and the guitar was introduced. Together with his best friend Willem he formed the duo The Modern Minstrels and got "world fame" on his high school. Singing, composing and making music he has always kept on doing, and with Gita Vinanda he finds both the musicality, and the inner atunement to make music and to sing from the heart: sometimes inwardly, sometimes exuberant, and always joyful!
